Book review - One for the Money
One for the Money

Honestly? I didn't like it. I know everyone raves about Evanovich, ahd she's hit the best seller list like a billion times, but this book just didn't do it for me. I started reading it for my chick lit/romance book club (whee!) and got about half way through before I realized I really wasn't interested in this character!
Stephanie Plum, the female lead, wasn't necessarily poorly created. She was rather realistic, could stand on her own two feet, knew what it was like to not have any groceries in her fridge. She's been screwed over by a man, had an annoying mother, and was all too aware of the fact that finding a job is next to impossible right now.
But then she became a bounty hunter? (A.k.a someone who goes out and picks up people who miss their court dates.) I don't think so. That's a pretty extreme job for someone who's never done it before. Which, I guess, is proved since she is constantly throwing herself into dangerous situations and almost getting her ass kicked, then being saved by former lover Joe Morelli who is the one guy she's looking for.
I just didn't care about Stephanie. I didn't care about all the things she was trying to do, all the people she met. The only semi-interesting thing I could enjoy was the sexual tension between Stephanie and Joe, and even that wasn't nearly as good as it should have been. I've read better. Roarke and Eve in the Eve Dallas mysteries? Yes please.
This book got 2 out of 5 stars.
