Hey guys! Long time no see.
Christmas was nice. I got a new laptop!! Continuing with my theme of naming electronics after sci fi women, I'm naming it Inara. It's not set up yet, but when it is.... YAY!!

Max's game show was last night. I really miss the days when his parties were all in one place, and we didn't have to tromp around the cold and snow for 5 hours. :( I'll admit I didn't have the best time. But it was great to see everyone! They do serve to bring people together who I otherwise wouldn't see.

I'm rather glad the hectic rushing of Christmas is over. Now I have to figure out what to do for New Years. Nathan's birthday party is always an option, though I don't like the thought of spending my evening watching people get drunk. >> I could always do something of my own! Or troll around for other parties that don't involve copious amounts of alcohol. Hmmm. We'll see. Suggestions? I suppose I could always have something over here with a tasteful bottle of champaigne and cheese.

Hope you had a great Christmas and have a fantastic new year! You'll hear more of me now that I have a NEW COMPUTER THAT DOESN'T SUCK!!!

I'm done! With basically everything! Ok, i have to write a reflective paper for GSJ and edit my drafts for Writing, but I don't care! No more class! No more anything!
I spent the past 2 days doing nothing but watching movies and TV and reading.
Movies watched:
-The Wind that Shakes the Barley (sooo good, but so sad. I cried. Kate had to hug me. Thanks, Kate!)
-Enchanted (always a favorite. Even if guy-from-Grey's-Anatomy is in it.)
-Star Trek (the new one, with all the hotties. Except for the fact that Katherine talked through it, I enjoyed it a lot!)
-Robin Hood s. 1 (Kate and I decided to re-watch this with Katherine and Anna last night. I forgot how awesome/totally dumb it is. Now I intend to write lots of fanfiction! ^_^)

Later, Heather and I might watch Public Enemies. Even though I heard it's sort of stupid. It's the movie my mom sat in an office building with binoculars and watched being filmed, so now I kinda HAVE to watch it.

More later, dear friends! Oh, and my tentative coming-home date is Dec. 19th. So let's par-tay friend-os!

Also: I'm thinking of seeing The Princess and the Frog on Thursday. Anyone wanna go?

All right, gaelic presentation. It's on now. I WILL finish you (at least the write-up) before Castle starts tonight.
It's only 250 words. (In another language that I don't hardly know). That shouldn't be too difficult, right?

This weekend is gonna be mainly homework. Homework, and trying not to go crazy. Yesterday I spent 2 1/2 hours at Accolades getting my hair done, getting a manicure (my nails are now pink!) and generally being totally relaxed. Now it's back to the grind.

I've got an 8 hour work shift today, but its with Jenny and Anna so I can basically do homework at the desk. I'm not too worried.
Seriously though, guys? Let's have a do-nothing party once everyone is home. The kind where we don't even bother to get out of our PJs.

Just keep swimming.

I did have 45 beautiful minutes of free time between class and work today though. It was awesome. I'm ignoring the fact that I have a paper due tomorrow, or at least ignoring it until after GSJ tomorrow. Then I'll rapidly do it in between classes, and be done done done! At least until after the English club movie night. (We're watching the Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged. Its high-larious.)

Also? I'm pretty sure I paper cut-ed the web of my thumb. Owwwie!

I definitely just quoted the Catholic Nicene Creed in my zombie paper.

It fits in with yesterday, when I was interviewing my mom for a paper, and I explained to her what a zombie was. She paused a moment, and then went.... "Like Christ!"

You can tell we're not really religious in my household. ^_^

Mom and I went on a date this afternoon. We do this. We have mom-daughter dates. Usually coffee, or lunch or something. This time we went to Target and did some shopping, and then stopped at the Caribou there.
I'd been kind of down all weekend because of stupid boy-related things, but of course I couldn't come right now and be like "booo! a boy has got me down!" because mom and I never really discussed boy things.

Anyway, we were talking, and the conversation drifted over to relationships, and she asked me if I felt bad that I'd never had one. I said yes. She asked me why.
I immediately launched into all my reasons. I go to an all-girls school. I don't do the bar/club/drunken party scene. I am a bit of a recluse.
Then mom says: "The correct answer is I just haven't found Mr. Right."" How great is my mom? That is sort of my hopeful theory, but I have been trying to be more realistic about relationships of late. Thanks mom, for renewing my optimism!!

Also, fun fact I learned about my parents over the weekend? They never actually got engaged. They just dated for a year, lived together for three and decided to get married. Called everyone up one day and said "hey guys! We're getting married! When can you come?"
My dad wore tweed. My mom wore a blue maid of honor-looking dress. They had carrot cake. Yay hippies!

My brain is slowly melting, and other things.

I just realized at 11:00 (I get off work at 11:30) that I have absolutely no clean underwear. Or clean pants. Guess who has to stay up an extra hour and a half to do laundry tonight?

I can't get a stupid certain boy out of my head, and I know I shouldn't get my hopes up about said stupid boy coming into town this weekend for Thanksgiving break, but I am. And I know I'll be inevitably disappointed. I wish Lauren was still in town. I wish Wednesday was here. I wish my emotions had an off-switch.
Also, it's entirely possible I won't even see said boy because my Thanksgiving is already planned out with lots of things (that are awesome) like seeing friends and eating food with family. So I really shouldn't worry. But I do.

I'm really hungry, but I'm pretty sure there is no food in our apartment. Shoot.

1) What are you doing right now? What should you be doing? I am at work, answering these questions on LJ. I SHOULD be working. Like that's going to happen.
2) You can only watch 2 TV shows for the next year. What are they? Castle and Bones. But its a real toss up. Big Bang Theory may win out over Bones.
3) If you could visit any planet (in our solar system), which one would it be? Mars. When I was younger, I had a dream I was on Mars and there was life. To this day, I'm convinced there is life.
4) Do you ever miss your childhood? Um... ALL THE TIME. /sadface
5) In keeping with the food trend, describe the perfect pizza. That would be pepperoni and really good italian sausage with onions and mushrooms. But on white sauce.

Hello, F-listers. I haven't been too good about writing of late, and that's because I have so much damn homework to do (and addicting FB games to play) that I'm about to go crazy.
I skipped 2 classes this week just to catch up on sleep. Bad of me, I know, but God did I need it.

Thanksgiving break can't come fast enough! Good food! Family! Get to see friends again!
And?
Going to see New Moon. That's right, people. I am actually excited to see the new Twilight movie. And why have I dipped to such a low, you may ask?

The answer is this guy.

Look at those abs! That adorable face! That body that screams out " I want to be Ariel's boyfriend!" Or at least that's what I hear. Don't you guys hear it too?

Kara and Isabel and I are gonna see it probably Wendesday or so. I'm sure it'll be horrible, and Edward and Bella will annoy the crap out of me but LOOK AT JACOB WITH NO SHIRT ON!! I could stand to stare at that a lot more.
I wonder if a viewing of the Riff Trax Twilight might be in order before the movie? Any interest? Let me know.

Back to work, then the absolute hell that is homework.
Going home this weekend to work on my huge GSJ paper (due next week, haven't started yet. I know, I suck.) That, and so my mom can cook delicious food. Love!!

I was in Duram Hall this afternoon checking out some registration stuff when I ran into my student advisor Scott. He'd read my complain-y tweet about how i was sad I didn't get any Halloween candy since we didn't go trick-or-treating, and said he'd bring me some.
When I saw him in the hall he goes! "Oh! Ariel! I have candy for you!" and then in an evil voice, "Come to my office, little girl."

I have the coolest advisor EVER.
Thanks for the candy, Scott! It will be consumed during Buffy tonight.

I realized today that I am sort of uncomfortable around men. Oh, not men in general. But like men my age. The only two I seem to be okay around are Max and Josh. Everyone else just freaks me out.
I think it's probably because I haven't had many experiences with men romantically, and I go to an all women's college where the only men I see are teachers and other girls' boyfriends in the cafeteria.

This bothers me, but I am not entirely sure what to do about it.

-I didn't go trick-or-treating this year, sadly. But I went to Matt and Dave's party for a bit! Which was awesome. Heather and I went as twin time travelers, and our hair looked totally cute. I will try and post a pic once people start posting 'em on Facebook.

-I feel like I didn't eat near enough candy this year. I had like 4 pieces. I remember when I was younger I'd get a whole pillowcase full! Maybe I should take advantage of Wallgreen's cheap candy sale?

-I decided not to do NaNoWriMo this year. /tear I really want to, but I don't have the time. I might to an improvised NNWM during January when I have more time. We'll see.

-My back hurts. That is all.

Michael Moskovitz from the Princess Diaries series!! He is a nerd, he's in a band, and he's totally hot. And nice. And I want one.
